Wildlife

We provide a number of seed feeders for the birds, usually filled with black sunflower seeds, and have seen our bird population increase dramatically. Plants have also been introduced with a view to attracting butterflies and bees. The following have all been seen (or heard) in the garden:

June 15th 2009
There is currently much activity in the garden with birds singing all day long. The blackbirds seem to have raised several broods, and there is often a queue for the soaked raisins we provide. The squirrels also help themselves.

I was somewhat surprised to find two snails, obviously doing what snails do, on my outside potting table, between two trays of plants. They were quickly transported to the birdtable!

By the way, we do use some slug pellets but they are the organic variety, and not harmful to the other wildlife.
